BITS
AND PIECES
The only breed of a dog mentioned in the Bible is
the Greyhound. In Proverbs 30:29-31. Agur son of Jakeh noted that
the Greyhound is “comely in going,” possibly making
him one of the earliest judges to comment on gait, if only from
the rear.
Richard Bugbee of Colchester, Vermont, USA, was
recently recognized as one of America’s most respected teachers.
Mr. Bugbee was not available at the time of the award. Having
pled guilty last August to having sex with one of his 13-year
old students. He is now doing time. While here in Belize the Government
condemns a school for correcting a teacher for having a child
with an older married man.
Hollywood’s at it again: You would think that
Hollywood would have learned its lesson, but adolescents of all
ages are too stubborn to profit from experience.
ABC, arguably the most liberal of the TV networks
(with CBS running strong for the same title), is launching a new
series designed to give Hillary Clinton a boost in 2008. It’s
called “Commander-in-Chief,” and it will star Geena
Davis as the first women President of the United States. In the
past, Davis has been active in her support of the liberal Democrats,
so we know the model for the title role won’t be Phyllis
Schlafly.
The two-hour pilot is already in the works, and
producers are hoping the series will have a long shelf life, like
“West Wing,” now in its fifth season. If it prospers,
“Commander-in-Chief” might well add to the friendly
climate that Hillary Clinton has always enjoyed, though it’s
hard to see how “West Wing” aided John Kerry.
